These Cones Won't Protect My Family

Passers by honk their horns as they come to a stop. The sound of approval brings a "thumbs up" from this homeowner, who could be heard passionately telling this reporter that "these cones won't protect my family". He and a group of friends held an over night vigil, waving at cars and making their plea to the city to make changes that will increase the chance that he and his family sleep safely at night, after a drunk driver broke through the guardrail this weekend, in the middle of the night, and landed his truck in their front yard. At least the guard rail, and a pole that he took out, slowed the truck enough that it didn't go through the front door. Now, those are gone, and nothing would slow traffic at the bottom of this hill.

His booming theater voice will surely be heard at upcoming city meetings. This fellow spoke eloquently about his family and the long history this neighborhood has seen of near misses and cars swerving around this corner at Ocean Blvd and Central in Coos Bay. Dedicated to protecting his wife and children, I predict this 'man with a mission' will bring some changes to this corner soon!
