The calm after the storm

This is part of my journey home from work. Usually the street is so busy, as are most streets in Korea: lined with cars and commuters. I caught a moment's calm, before the lights went green and the road was filled with traffic again. Gwangju is not a picturesque place. In fact, most of it's very ugly. Contemporary Korean architecture and town planning leaves a lot to be desired. I like how this shot reflects the crystalline nature of winter: beautiful and bleak.
