Burns Night supper

Usual Burns night supper came around. Another great one, although smaller guest list this year - Just G and K (+boys). More intimate somehow though. Better than usual if anything.

Subject of the blip today was the enormous Haggis B managed to find. I've never seen one like it before. Served 10 people...a MacSweens...all of 18 inches in length and it was magnificent. Tasted superb. Nicely spiced. Poor Dog hardly had any left overs. And G addressed it in his usual swaggering Glasgow drawl...makes your spine tingle. my favourite bit is always:

His knife see rustic Labour wipe,
And cut you up with ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like any ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm steaming, rich!

...as he plunges his sgian dubh into the fat juicy belly of the poor haggis.

All dinners should hve some such ritual. Most heartening.
