New Mexico State Bird

I have taken pictures of Roadrunners before, but they are hard to capture. They run pretty fast and they blend in so well with their surroundings. This one was lounging next to the house when I left this morning. At first I thought he may be sick. I have never seen one sitting this way; kind of on his backside. When I drove past, the car startled him enough to get him up and running. Then he looked OK. Maybe not as fast as some others in the neighborhood, maybe he's elderly.
