Perimeter Breached

Well, after a reassuring call to my mum, at approximately 10am this morning, ensuring her that we were far from harm, that the rioting was some distance away, that there was nothing to worry about and that our community would not be breached....there was gunfire, tanks and armed locals! All in the space of 6 hours!! If the gunfire that we heard from the comfort of a friend?s house (prompting us to return home some 30 minutes after a curfew that we assumed was just a load of bollocks) was a touch of a concern (heart in the throat type stuff really!) then the gunfire and site of two of these monsters (all but ten metres from our feet, prompting people to return home...apparently not a ?bollocks? curfew) on the short journey back was the most horrific experience of my life.

Guns really are loud up close!

To add spice to the sauce, the prison opposite our apartment is experiencing its own form of rioting, with inmates attempting a number of escapes. The local streets are now teeming with roaming roaming gangs of locals tooled up and raring to protect their homes. As intimidating as it was, walking toward the hub of excitement, we felt safe in the knowledge that we were neither local police nor escaped inmates.

Now to change my underpants!
