just the one

I was walking the dogs this morning and saw this.

At first, I thought that the wind had caused the tree to split and then someone had lot a fire by the stricken branch. Then I noticed that the tree was also burned, but like the section that was fallen, fractured, not all the wood was charred. At the base of the tree was another hole and more signs of fire.

My uneducated conclusion is that the tree had been struck by lightening in the storms of the proceeding week.

Which, if true, is pretty cool. I don't see that every day.

I now know where to stand in another lightening storm too.
