Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Nature's ink

I was back in Logie Buchan graveyard on the banks of the River Ythan this morning, to take more photographs for a talk on Scottish Graveyards later this week. My eye was eventually drawn to a flat grave-slab, or throwch stane as they are known locally, where the carved lettering has been colonised by vivid green mosses. Rather than show the whole slab I have chosen this small detail. Life in death, I guess.
