Luminaries

Friday
Our neighborhood has this beautiful tradition of luminaries on Christmas Eve. There are a few people who take care of ordering the bags and candles, and deliver them to your door a few days before. You put a few inches of sand in the bottom of the bags, and set a votive candle in the sand, and line the front of your property and your driveway, and light them at 6pm. As long as its not raining or snowing, or very windy, they burn for hours - I've sometimes woken in the early hours, and many are still burning at 1 or 2 am! Its such a beautiful sight when we drive back into the neighborhood after our Christmas Eve Service at church.
