Thank Heaven!

A new year has just begun!

I've started on jobs in the garden today. After 5 weeks of coughing (and limping) I feel ready for the outside world!

But first I had to hug a tree. Not just any tree. We planted this one. It has grown into a majestic forty-footer and I love it!

Do you recognise what it is from the tell-tale bark?

The first task is to come to terms with the damage done by rabbits over the winter. They eat any new bark they can when the snow is on the ground and the deeper it is the higher they can reach. I know the earth is equally free for all but there has to be limits, surely?

Anyway, I'm feeling optimistic, at last.
