Smokey Surfing...

What is the link between Arbroath Smokies and surfing?

For me, they both portray and lovely impression from a far but they have a wee kick back that slightly muddies your initial interpretation.

Surfing from a spectator point of view looks brilliant, floating down a wall of water, carving around, cutting back and gliding. Smokies present you with the lovely smell from great distances and then present all your senses with this archaic and finely crafted food that you just can't wait to consume.

The kick backs. Salt water and bones. The spectator view of surfing doesn't impress upon you the amount of salt water you will imbibe whilst gracefully or otherwise floating across the raging waters. Arbroath Smokies, although do taste absolutely outstanding, are a food that force you to take your time because they never manage to get all the bones out. You can't just chow down enthusiastically, but have to be slightly wary of a few wee bones getting in the way turning them into a bit more of a chore to eat than they deserve.

Notes on other activities...
Today we took the stabilisers off Bethany's bike. She can't quite managed it without someone holding the balance but she certainly not afraid to try. The coming re-cycling runs should be interesting.
