Greno Wood

A shaft of sunlight hits Greno Wood on a warm, almost Spring-like day in late winter. The birds had noticed the change in the temperature, and species singing included Great, Blue and Coal Tits, Dunnocks, Robins and Wrens, while Great Spotted Woodpeckers provided percussion.

Greno Wood is part of my local patch, and is a great spot for finding species such as Green Woodpecker, Goldcrest, Bullfinch, Nuthatch and Siskin. It is currently managed by Sheffield Wildlife Trust, who have launched an appeal to buy the wood permanently.
