Concert

About five months later and one of my favorite storytellers is back again in Athens for a concert. Wonderful music, songs and of course storytelling. Quite an excellent way to finish the weekend. Here is one of his funny stories of the night:

One time a man, let us call him John, went to the doctor and said "Doctor, I believe my wife, Maria, is deaf. Very often I have to repeat myself until she hears me. But she is also very proud and it would really difficult to get her to come here. What shall we do?".
The doctor after some thought tells him "go to the kitchen, when she is not there, and paint 8 lines on the floor every one meter from the stove. Then when she is cooking go and ask her a question from 8 meters away and when she does not answer move to the next line closer and ask again. This way we'll find how much she hears and we'll figure something to do to help her".
So the next time Maria is cooking, John (having painted the lines on the floor) goes at the 8-meter line and asks "Maria, what are we having for dinner?". No answer! He moves closer, to the 7-line and asks again "Maria, what are you cooking?". Still no answer! The same happens at the 6, the 5, the 4 the 3, the 2-meter line. So he is now standing one meter away and asks "Maria, what is in the stove for dinner?" and Maria answers him "John, I told you already! This is the 8th time I am telling you that today we have lentils for dinner!

Hope this came through in the translation and that you also had a good weekend!

Oh, and you can see more photos of the concert here.
