still on the grinchy end of the personality spectrum but we did some useful jobs and i bought back my kids' affection with some dr who cards - although think we all took a step backwards when what i thought was some peaceful play upstairs turned out to be wonton destruction of xmas decorations using the nail scissors

peace reigned when carpet biter2 went to a birthday party in the afternoon and carpet biter1 and i retreated to one of glasgow's finest cafes - kember and jones. she put her 8 yr old mouth round this. i ate my pecan pie and waited for her to be defeated but only ended up with the scrapings off the plate.

an ex big brother contestant was in there too - naturally we studiously ignored her. am reasonably used to seeing people off the telly in the flesh but it was odd to think just how much flesh she has shared with the general public...
