2011 Challenge : Love - The House for an Art Lover

This is the sandstone "Tree of Life" symbol, one of the motifs on the facade of The House for an Art Lover, in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, Scotland.

Designed in 1901 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his new wife Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh for a German competition. Their dream was to be realised in the late 1990s when the drawings were used by a Glasgow team of architects, designers, engineers, builders and craftsmen to create the house, on the site Mackintosh had identified back in 1901.

The love that Charles and Margaret had for each other comes through superbly in the interior design, decorations and furniture in this place. Today, it is a popular wedding venue, a very romantic setting.

For me, it fits the theme for this week.
