Breton Church and Crucifix

Our excursion today with our friends took us to the area of St. Brieuc on the north coast of Brittany, about 100 km from their house in Rennes.

I took a number of views along the picturesque coast, but it's not particularly striking.

So I decided to post this close-up shot of the church in Hillion (Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste). The free-standing crucifix seems characteristic of Brittany (although those I remember from our previous stay much further west were older).

We took a long walk along the coast close to here, including a stop at a blind (or hide, or observatoire in French). The most interesting birds we saw were shelducks, curlews and brant (brent goose). But numbers were relatively few, and from information posted we realized that it was due to the low tide.
