Taste Life Twice

False spring

Warm day in winter
like an effervescent wine:
the promise of spring.

M played hooky today so we enjoyed the false start of spring together. Gym in the morning, then a trip to a bagel shop, which involved a windows-down, bumpy wild, off-road adventure. We were both delighted that Atticus (the latest addition to the fleet, pictured here) made the trip without stalling, dying, filling with smoke, or spontaneously combusting.

On the way home, we popped in for a wine tasting at Clifton Wine Shop & Tasting Room in one of my favorite historic towns. I was wowed by the lovely vinho verde from Portugal, pictured above. It's not a sparkling wine, but has a light effervescence that feels delightful in the mouth, and it's a crisp, tart wine, which I adore in a white. Brought home a bottle of that (which has been a lovely treat at the end of this lovely day), as well as a Spanish red, Legado Munoz, a Tempranillo. I've never heard of or tried this varietal, so I am looking forward to it when the weather cools down again. (Snow predicted for Tuesday!)
