Evening shadows

An early breakfast, then on the bus (in temperatures of -35C) for Kuvansi school. As it was so cold, the original plan to have outside activities all morning was changed. We did some tandem skiing- three people on a set of ski's- then we went indoors and were treated to assembly with mass conga dancing. At the end of the assembly, we were presented with a huge Valentine's card, signed by the Finnish children. Then, we played floorball (like our indoor hockey). After lunch we left on the bus to travel to the nearby town of Joroinen, where we were visiting the annual "Old Dance Show" - a display of dancing, put on by the oldest secondary school pupils, in special costumes.

After this, we walked to the junior secondary school, where all our wee guys showed real bravery giving their presentations about Scotland to a lecture theatre full of much older kids. Once again the address to the haggis was received with a mixture of bemusement, hilarity and admiration for the wee guy putting all his enthusiasm into it.

Then it was back to Kuvansi school, where we spent an hour and a half outside, skiing and ice skating. I grabbed this shot of Ruby returning back after she'd decided that skiing really wasn't for her! We then returned back to the hostel, had dinner, and were joined by all the penfriends and their parents.

Phew!
