Another Day

The Day of the Earthquake.

The morning started off fine with no indication of what was going to happen.
Making a cup of tea at the bench just before 1pm, when there was an almighty earthquake.
I tipped the boiling water from the cups down the sink, and held on while things came tumbling down from the bench and cupboards, around me.
No real damage, couple of doors jammed, and things on the floor, but nothing that cannot be fixed. Power went out and did not come on until 8 pm, so we listened to the radio and learnt that the centre of the city had been devastated. Later we were able to put the TV on and see what really had happened. Un-believable. No sleep as the shocks went on all night.
Took Amber for a walk as she was upset by all the shocks.
This river is about 400 meters from me, and is the beginning of the River Avon.
The water comes from springs, but by the look of this there has been liquefaction in the stream and the water is a clay white, and the banks are starting to subside, and plants fall over. Nothing to what is going on in the centre of town, but we are not able to go there.
