S F Jones & Sons

City Road is still there but no sign of S F Jones & sons on the corner of City Road and Lucy Street. Samuel Frazer Jones and sons brewed "herb beer" in Salford until they moved to City Road, Hulme round about 1932. They must have lost a good few of these bottles as I spotted some on eBay (different years and commanding the princely sum of £3.99!). Bit of a performance taking this shot. Used a tripod of course but the kitchen light reflected on the text just below the rim so it was unreadable. Adding the flash didn't get rid of it so I ended up holding an umbrella with one hand and the cable release with the other. I hope you like it because the weather today has been appalling and I've spent another day on motorways and in meetings without much chance to take photos.
