At the start of 2021 I decided to try to take a daily walk and take a photo each day but I  didn't have a plan about what to do with them. Thanks to a great course run by the University of Strathclyde about making the most of your photos I discovered Blipfoto. My daily blip has become part of my life. I'm not an expert photographer and only use an iPhone but something new catches my eye every day. I love browsing the amazing entries and I love the positive and welcoming community.

Update January 2022
I'm proud to say that I did blip every day in 2021 and I'm looking forward to carrying on in 2022. I've  bought a Panasonic camera with a zoom lens. It's a DC-TZ90. I like the fact that it's small enough to fit in my pocket so I can carry it every time I go for a walk. After several months, however, I'm still using the 'Intelligent automatic' setting. One of my ambitions for this year is to learn how to get off the automatic setting. I need a good course.

Update January 2024
My uninterrupted run of daily blips foundered in the summer of 2023 when we set off in our boat 'Summer Song' for a cruise up the West Coast of Scotland. This was partly due to an erratic phone signal. I did take a lot of photographs but not every day. I posted a few as back Blips later in the year. I had a couple of abortive attempts to get into the routine again but got so busy I didn't' find enough  time to keep up with reading other journals.

In the best tradition I am making a fresh start in 2024.

I attended a photography course in October and November and have come to the conclusion that while I understand the basic concepts around the manual modes on my camera the menus and level of sophistication available need more work. I've signed up for a 10 week / 10 hours a week course with the OU starting in March. Before then I need to get to grips with my camera controls.

By the way my user name is the name of a boat we once owned, really I am Jane.
