When I first joined this community, I don’t think I could ever have imagined posting a photograph every day, without a gap, for over 10 years, but that is what I have now achieved. I think I originally hoped it would be a showcase for my photographic skills, but the difficulty of meeting a demand for a good picture every single day soon became apparent and, frequently, I have had to post an “emergency blip” (EB) of whatever subject I could find just to keep the journal going.
Over time, though, I have realised that for me, personally, the diary aspect of my journal has become more important than the quality of the photographs. I can look back through my blips and be reminded of the places I have been, the people I have seen and what I have done through the years.
So, after 10 years, I have decided that this journal will concentrate on recording my daily life (or as much of it as I am prepared to reveal in public!) with, hopefully, an occasional decent photograph.  I think this probably reflects the original intention of Joe Tree, who founded this site in 2004.
If others choose to view the journal and leave comments, stars or even hearts – then that is a bonus, but I don’t rely on that.  When I have time I will continue to glance at others’ journals, but I do not promise to comment regularly or frequently.  The occasional star will indicate that I have visited.
Photographs that I am pleased with may appear on my website, or on Flickr.
