Bad Worrying news: - A long time before it'll be better

One can get euphoric over the recent events in Egypt, being witness to the birth of democracy and all but the life of the average Egyptian will likely take a very long time to change, probably getting worse before it gets better. So much hardship, it's heartbreaking.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Good I think it's good news: - What's in it for them?

While I appreciate what this could mean for the average Egyptian man and woman on the street I have to wonder if this is just the US's way (again) of exercising some control over the political outcome. Actually no, I'm 100% sure it's a power play and yet another effort to meddle in foreign affairs but if it means a speedier journey to a stable, democratic government? Good news is, they've had their noses stuck into Egypt's affairs for decades so their support can't exactly be seen by haters of democracy as new meddling. Or can it?
