Swimming Against The Tide

London Coliseum

Well, quite a day really!

It started off slightly chilly - we have run out of heating oil, which means we have no heating or hot water at the moment. And, of course, it would be at the start of the weekend, which means that we won't get any until the new week starts! Hey ho!

Anyway, plans for the day continued unabated - we set off to London mid-morning, then spent a contented middle-of-the-day browsing the shops (well, mainly Paperchase on Tottenham Court Road, although I also ogled quite a lot of the musical instruments on Denmark Street!)

Then we headed for The London Coliseum (pictured, in sepia, olde postcarde stylee) and settled in for an afternoon and evening of Wagner. Parsifal is such splendid music, and I very much enjoyed it, although sitting for that long on such small seats is quite a challenge!

Then we drove home, via the Wonderspouse's gym, where we both had a shower - no baths at home at the moment, owing to the hot water situation!

Ultimate verdict on Wagner & Parsifal:

Fabulous for the soul, if a little painful for the back!
