Mosgiel Woollen Mills

Today it was cold, wet, windy and a great day to stay inside infront of the fire but this isnt an option if you are on Blipfoto so off we went out looking round Mosgiel for something interesting. Into the old woollen mills we went and found this doorway, the entrance to the old factory. The woollen mill was what made Mosgiel the place it is and without the employment that it provided there wouldnt be a town here. It closed in 2001 after a long battle to stay alive, its now used as workshops for tradesman and a covered storage facility.

It got me thinking......

How many families have received a living from the old factory, generation after generation were employed here?
How many kids like me heard the mill whistle and ran of home knowing that there dinner would be on the table soon?
Its Mosgiel history thats for sure and its great to see it still upright and now being used again, long may it continue.
