Marjorie's ramblings

Secret woods

Not secret at all actually, but I love the way this branch takes your eye into the image. I was walking alongside Haltwhistle Burn on a recce for the Singing Walk in the walking festival, when I saw the tree with all the mosses and ferns. It looks like a microenvironment in the jungle and not what you expect within 1 mile of Haltwhistle Town Centre.

The Burn is a special place and much more accessible to everyone since work was done on the paths. Our route took us beyond the Burn to Cawfields Quarry and then on to Aesica Fort. (My companion J tried to text her husband to say where we were, but the predictive text said to meet us in Africa!!

The walk was successfully completed. I had lunch with M and B (thanks for the lovely grub) and then we went to Gilsland Spa Hotel to meet a reporter from Tyne Tees TV to talk about the War Babies walk. That was good fun and the item should be on TV on Thurs or Friday.
