An empty bowl

Another brilliant day but perhaps not quite as hot as yesterday. I took Aussie Cousin G down to the coast to visit my niece who is expecting twins in the next few weeks. At the bottom of their garden is a wild bit with a broken and overgrown old hut. Looking through the window an old metal-framed chair drawn near to the table and an empty enamel bowl is visible. One wonders who the person was who last sat there and what were they doing with the bowl ... I can see an old boy shelling peas but that is totally unlikely as that part of the garden is full of trees and wild flowers.

Last night while letting the dog out there was a small black shape on the lawn. Not having a torch I took a photograph and found it to be quite a large hedgehog about nine inches long. We havnt seen one up here for years! She was gone by morning.
