Old Roads to a New Path

Here we are again - another group of happy walkers taking part in the Haltwhistle Walking Festival. We set out from Greenhead, walked to Gilsland and then turned north out of the village towards Wardrew Farm. The tree blossom was again wonderful today with more bird cherry bursting forth.

After Wardrew Farm we had our lunch in the garden of a holiday cottage, kindly loaned to us for the event, with tea/coffee and milk all available in the kitchen. Then over open access and very windy moorland to another farm, loads of sheep and lambs, a suckler herd freshly out to pasture and stunning view to the Lake District. We ran out of superlatives.

Tomorrow is the very popular Singing Walk, so I need an early night to recharge the batteries
