Marjorie's ramblings

Today's special interest walk was to Slack House Organic Farm to hear about the higher level stewardship schemes in place there. This is a dairy farm where they make their own cheese and sell unpasteurised milk products. We saw 3 hedges, planted in different years, and all heading for layering in the future. The herd of Ayrshires was allowed out onto pasture especially for our visit. The cows looked very happy.

D, pictured, told us about the farm and as she did so, her ideal and philosophy of farming shone through.

We ended the walk with a super tea in the farm tearoom and people went away loaded down with cheese and milk.

Tonight was M's 75th birthday party and we had a wonderful meal at the Red Lion in Newbrough.

Have to walk 12 miles tomorrow...........
