putting the customer OUT

FFFFFFFfffff...

Of all the stupid....

BAGH.

There are two clearly-printed plain-english and surprisingly polite notices up in the stairwell. They read along the lines of the following:

"Couriers:

This stairwell is shared and the door to the street is not always secured.

Please ensure that deliveries are not left in the stairwell, on a balcony or in the garden. Please confirm the identity of the addressee before handing over a package.

If leaving a card please ensure it is put through the correct letterbox.

Thank you."

You would think that someone able to read a list of delivery points on their plan for the day and able to find addresses and so on would be able to read sufficiently to spot the notice, recognise some words, read the words and perhaps even extract out some of the meaning behind them.

I will take the fact that my parcel was apparently left beneath a doormat underneath a plant pot as evidence to the contrary. Yes, they did put the card through the correct letterbox but when they've left a parcel where any passing opportunist might thieve it (maybe even the same one who stole my camera-package a couple of years ago which caused me to start loathing Parcelforce after they left it in the stairwell) it somewhat negates anything they have done correctly. At least I now know to (as well as the notices) put big "Please do not stick parcels underneath this (or any other similar) plant pot" stickers on all the plant pots.

If you plan on having anything delivered please do your best to ensure that Home Delivery Network Limited are not involved at any point. On the plus side the attempted delivery saved me from a trip out to their depot at Newbridge. One the downside it means I will be spending quite a bit of time trying not to shout at people on the phone over the next few days.

Spoons.
