Gillis Beach

After such a hectic 3-4 days in the studio preparing for the sale, i couldn't face spending the day in the studio...and even altho it was a really crappy day weather wise, we decided to head off for a bit of a road trip. So Bronwyn and I headed off to Iona, which is about 40 minutes from Baddeck. On the way we stopped at a lovely little Deli and got coffee and cookies etc.....with Adele blaring in the car, we happily sang along, and because we really don't the words we just sort of make them up! it's pretty silly! the mist wasn't as bad down on the coast, compared to up on Big Hill, but it was still pretty murky! Had to take the sweet little ferry at Little Narrows, i love that name....just so descriptive of the landscape as is the case with a lot of place names around Cape Breton!
We stopped at a friends greenhouse and i purchase a peony bush....my first ever! I absolutely love them and so i'm excited to watch it blossom and grow. It's pretty small right now, but i have faith! Then we found Gillis' beach and had a lovely wander along it. the rain didn't deter us too much....we found lots of lovely stones and shells etc....just so peaceful and yet wild at the same time!

We then headed up the road, to the Highland Village. It was of course deserted, but we were able to have a look inside the wee church, it is so beautiful, build around the middle of the 1800's - and very plain but strong!

Back on the road to Baddeck and to the Co-op to do some grocery shopping. It was a great day with my daughter, how i'm loving just having her near me !
