Meet Savanna

My walk in the park today was extra special because the park naturalists had planned a program in celebration of International Migratory Bird Day. The program focused on bluebirds and included displays and an informative slideshow on bluebird nesting habits. Savanna, a short-eared owl, was an added bonus among the displays. So named because of the habitat she usually flies over in search of her prey, she was a rescued bird, but the surgery to correct her wing wasn't entirely successful. Unable to be released and survive, she lives at the wildlife center permanently. She seems to know that she is a very handsome bird, and she posed perfectly for the camera.

Correction: Please take another look at my journal entry for yesterday. I made a correction based on some information I learned today.
