Swimming Against The Tide

Versailles?

OK, not ACTUALLY Versailles, but the Wonderspouse did exclaim, when he looked out of the window this morning "Blimey, it looks like Versailles out there"! I had, at the time, just updated my facebook to say that it wasn't QUITE like the greens at Augusta, but very nearly!

Of course, it's actually just a raggy old lawn full of thistles, dandelions, daisies, moss and so on. BUT we woke up to the neatness of it being mowed properly for the first time in, well, ages. In fact, sometime last summer when the lawnmower started to fail. We struggled on until last autumn, doing what we could, until it finally burnt out halfway through the last mow of the season. We then tried the very old cheap hover mower, whose engine then went up in smoke.

Anyway, enough of lawns, that was yesterday's story really.

This morning I've been out to see the "job lady", then been to do one or two extra bits of shopping, then been to the farm to collect asparagus supplies. Then home, for a decent lunch and to sort some washing etc.

Now it's just 1.15 and I'm ready to go to my desk and do maths.

I'm also having a bit of a Stravinsky-Fest today. Woke up in the mood for Stravinsky, so am listening to various bits (symphonies, concertos, ballets) all day today!
