Jess & Molly Law

Jess bears it bravely

The two of them (three, with Mrs jml) were walking peacefully around Keil Den this morning when a beagle came from nowhere and set about poor Jess. In no time at all, the attacker had Jess over on her side and was biting her ear. The owners of the other dog were there quite quickly and took their animal away without saying a word - not even 'Sorry'. Mrs jml was too shocked to say anything to them either, and it was only when they were about 100 yards away that she noticed Jess was bleeding from her left ear.

I got a call on the mobile phone to tell me what had happened, and I had warm water, cotton wool & towels on hand for when they got home. Here is Jess taking her treatment extremely bravely - not a single whimper. She did not even wince, although the wound was swabbed with Dettol.

Luckily there does not seem to be too much damage. We decided that it was not necessary to take Jess to the clinic; and she has a routine appointment with Fiona Vet on Wednesday, if the wound gets worse.

This is the second episode in little more than a week. The day after Holly was blipped taking my girls for a walk, she was attacked by a black Labrador. Holly's injuries are much more severe - she has been to the vet at least three times and has been bleeding quite a lot.

This is usually such a peaceful neck of the woods ...
