Annie's In Oregon

Instincts

Like her mother before her, Felix was born in the wild and has now introduced her second litter of kittens into the world...wild. Also like her mother, Felix herself is very, very cautious and does not let us near her kittens...well, until I get close enough and she runs off and the kittens stay! Wow, that was a first!

This is the first litter of the wilds that did not scamper away when I approached them. It looks as if we will have a much easier time of taming them and getting them spayed and/or neutered. Their brother, Caleb was born last year, and we were able to befriend him quickly, and he is no longer able to reproduce. Yay Neuter Scooter!

It does get tiresome. The first of the wild kitties was Christmas Kitty. She came to our yard, very young, and on Christmas day, and what were we to do except give her a bit of milk? We enticed her to stay on, since she had a name, and she and her mate produced 2 litters before we finally caught and spayed her. She ran off shortly after, no doubt to give someone else a nice...spayed...pet.

The kittens are delightful in this yard we have turned into a play yard. Eventually we plan to neutralize the breeding capabilities of the whole little group of them. Some run off, never to return. It's a pity, really. The forest monsters must get them occasionally.
