Secret pond

Although I can't see it from the porch at my new home, it's just a few steps away down the sidewalk. The secret is that unless you're walking and looking for it, the pond can't be seen from the road. It has about a 1/4 acre of surface area and is wonderfully shaded opposite these buildings. The banks slope down as you can see, and it is a delightful spot!

These nameless ponds are actually a man-made part of Florida's storm water drainage and management system. This one, fortunately, is healthy in that it supports aquatic plant and animal life and attracts our wading birds. Look for more blips from "Lake Susan"..... ;-0
