~American Mourning Dove~

~Zenaida macroura~

The "mourning" part of its common name comes from its call.
Almost sound like it is in mourning. Hear the call.
A very abundant bird in the southwest United States.
When flying they flap their wings continually creating a whistle
as the air passes through the wing feathers.
