Berlin icons

We are loving Berlin. It's such a beautiful, green city - trees everywhere, and so calm and quiet. Public transport is easy and comfortable. Today we went to the Olympic Stadium that I wanted to see as my father was there at the opening of the games in 1936. Couldn't go in as it's closed till after 5th July for the women's football championships. But the outside was impressive.

Tonight we are going to the symphony hall to hear a selection of music performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra - includes two movements from Handel's water music. Went there earlier to suss out its whereabouts and bus routes.

Lots of lovely sights seen, and I choose this manhole cover to blip! But you can maybe see why - all those iconic images on a lid to the drains - Berliner Wassergetriebe! Made me want to do a brass-rubbing! Look up at the rooves or down at your feet, there's always something to admire. (Oh, and it didn't rain. That's due to arrive about 8 o' clock tonight, by which time we'll be enjoying the concert. Don't mind too much if we get wet on the way home.)
