Great balls of fire!

Why a ball?

I was asked today about tennis balls, so thought id show you!

The Aegon International uses the same balls that are being used at the moment at Wimbledon.

The question we get asked the most is why do they bounce balls and some of them get given back to the ball girls or boys?
Iv made up many a story about this but the truth is to check the pressure (bounce). If you look at a ball after only a short time it goes 'fluffy'. To mere mortals like me it makes no difference at all yet when you can smash a ball at over 110mph it drastically slows down in the air.

This years balls are heavier than previous years in a bid to slow the game down.

The shot was taken during my lunch break in the pavilion, the building in the background is the tennis centre. Was a beautifull day with plenty of sun and the temp was 20c by 9 o'clock.


Not very creative but guess my brain doesn't wake up on a Monday ( or the rest of the week if people had their shout).
