Malaysia travels day 5 - Bukit Penang

George Town has a great local bus service so I was able to get to the foot of Bukit Penang, Penang Hill, relatively easily, although a bit of a winding journey. the attraction of Penang Hill is the funicular which has new carriages and takes you non-stop to the top. The hill was originally known as 'strawberry hill' (the colonialists clearly had a 'thing' about strawberries) and you get an amazing view over George Town and back across to the mainland. The tall tower is the Komtar Tower,a landmark housing government offices and at its foot two huge shopping malls.

George Town is an easy place to wander around but itb was still a relief to get back to the hotel for a dip in the pool and a refreshing cocktail - ah the life of an international jet setter!
