Eager anticipation

There are six baby coots at the nature reserve! They look like creatures from a Jim Henson film (possibly cute versions of skeksis). This blip captures the moment before the mother dives to find a tasty morsel on the pond bottom. I love the tilt of the tiny coot to the left.

We also saw terrapins at the nature reserve for the first time - I wonder where they've been hiding until now? They're much bigger than I thought they'd be.
