While on my runs

All that is left

Is this plaque. No other sign of the Soap and Candle Works remains.

The Warnocks built two large concrete clad villas about 150 m further west along Richmond Road. They remain grand residences, which sold in the last five years or so (separately) at well above the average for homes in this area of Grey Lynn.

On this side of Richmond Road, Cox's Creek has been covered over and turned into a culvert or drain. Almost directly across the road is the entry to the walkway by the creek, along which I take many of my runs. At the time the Warnock factory was built the creek ran fairly directly into a swampy area of mangroves. This was subsequently drained and protected from the tides and became the site of a large sawmill. Now that area is the Coxs Bay Park, where there are multiple sports fields used summer and winter.
