This chubby goldfinch was among a large flock of finches and others that visited my feeders today after I refilled them with their favorite food: sunflower chips! That was this morning. When I looked this evening the largest feeder was almost empty. No wonder the bird population in our neighborhood is so chubby! I had hoped to blip her bright yellow male counterpart, but he flew away when I showed up with my camera.

Weather report: Two days ago we sweltered in sticky 94 degree temperatures. Today I needed a sweatshirt as the thermometer hovered around the mid-sixties. From high summer to late fall in about 30 hours. Weird weather, if I do say so!
