Appearances can be deceptive

Look at this picture: a relaxing afternoon with hot soup and my OU textbook. What you can't see is the three year-old just off to the right, spinning around and singing a song about poo. You can't see that I feel awful and am so full of cold meds I've read the same paragraph five times and I'm no wiser. You can't hear the distant hum of the TV in another room or that someone next door is drilling. You can't see the sink full of dishes or the suspicious sticky patch on the floor.
