Swimming Against The Tide

Whole House

This is one of MiL's dolls houses - the one without a kitchen, but don't worry, when the people in this one get hungry, they pop over the room to the other house, where there is a very well-equipped kitchen! The only thing these people are worrying about at the moment is when their new front door, which FiL is making on the workbench in his study, will be finished!

Today, as you will have gathered, we went to visit the in-laws. After a short lie-in, which was very much needed, we checked the mended bit of the car, then did the 3 hour drive down to Devon.

FiL had prepared a gigantic lunch (pie with potatoes & green beans, followed by caramel rice pudding - yum), which we ate, although MiL felt ill & so had her pudding quietly on her own in the sitting room.

Then we had some of FiL's own roasted coffee - I took a picture of the beans, but I was talking while I was doing it, so it came out a bit blurry!

We got updated on MiL's treatment, which Exeter hospital seem to be doing very well from what we can tell. MiL now has 3 tattoos (just little dots) so they can line up the radiotherapy machine in exactly the right place each day and burn the same bits over and over again. She had a day off hospital today, but is going in for an 8-hour chemotherapy session on Friday.

Both MiL & FiL seemed very pleased to see us - since the Wonderspouse is an only child, they're not overblessed with lots of family, so visits are appreciated all the more.

Then it was another 3 hours driving (for me, the Wonderspouse doesn't drive) and another small petrol refuelling (not filling up at the moment, so as not to strain the fuel hose mend), and home, where we both collapsed on the sofas.

The only other news from home is that Tiggy ate something she shouldn't have done on Tuesday evening. She didn't eat her supper & spent the evening throwing up on the carpet. She continued to do so.

And (I'm actually typing this on Thursday morning), an update on Tiggy is that she's just thrown up again, this time into one of the Wonderspouse's shoes!

I'm hoping this won't involve another expensive vet visit!
