Walk to Stainborough Castle

An event at Northern College (in the grounds of Stainborough Castle) prompted our afternoon walk. At times the light was brilliant but then suddenly dead as the rain came down. I was influenced by Rainie's photograph of field patterns and took several close-up images of the tractor tracks in the now empty cornfield. In the end I chose this photo because of the sky and bright colours on the buildings. Maybe I'll get round to posting some of the others elsewhere.

Our walk took us into Hood Green village and then to the front of these houses and trees where a track leads round to the College and grounds of Stainborough Castle. I wanted to show some support for Brian who was displaying a mix of his own photographs taken at a local SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and some of the club photos. The whole event was organised by an environmental charity so there were lots of displays from local groups, including the bee keepers.

An enjoyable walk back (less rain and mainly downhill) where we spotted Jackdaws and Rooks out in force and also a rainbow in the distance (not quite Paul the Weatherman material though for those of you who understand the Yorkshire reference!)

Back home now and relaxing with a glass of beer - enjoy the rest of your weekend!
