Ticking Away the Moments

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Decided to go and see this film tonight at Stratford on Avon Picturehouse. It's a nice little cinema with 2 screens and a bar, you can take in a glass of wine or a beer if you want to, although most people seem to stick to good old popcorn.

I really enjoyed the film, bit slow to get going but the acting was excellent which always makes a big difference. Gary wasn't quite so keen, don't think there was enough going on for him. The film was set in the 1970s, which I presume was later than the original John le Carre book, can't remember ever reading it.

Lots of big names in the film, Gary Oldman was the lead and he was excellent - also starred John Hurt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Ciarán Hinds, Mark Strong and Kathy Burke. I did think she was wasted a bit, she only had a tiny part.

Saw trailers for another couple of films we'd like to go and see - both a bit more action packed so a bit more like our usual choices! The Debt, starring Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson and also Drive - which could turn out to be a bit like a Jason Statham film but hopefully will be a bit better than that ;o)

So that's my film review - makes a change from rugby I suppose, but in case you were missing my regular rugby updates, England won comfortably, but sadly Worcester lost again, partly thanks to a truly shockingly bad ref - even the ESPN commentary team mentioned it.
