Scaligera Castle

Scaligera Castle guards and provides the only land entrance to Sirmione. We walked here from our hotel the first morning, we were staying in Columbare, a town at the entrance to the peninsular leading to Sirmione. I think Columbare may have been about 3 miles from Sirmione. There is a bus service to Sirmione, but this being the first morning we thought we should walk.

The town of Siirmione is comprised of narrow streets which lead to the harbour. Several ice cream shops, far too tempting, as well as the restaurants and bars on the square in from of the ferry terminal. We took the ferry to Bardolino, which as well as being a wine is another of the towns on Lake Garda.

On the way back to our hotel we tool the bus!
