Verona

Piazza delle Erbe, Verona

I took to the road again today in my unfamiliar rental car. We went to Verona avoiding the autostrada to see a bit more of the countryside. I don't remember anywhere with so many roundabouts as the rods out of Sirmione.

After finding ourselves unexpectedly at the station a friendly carabinieri directed us to one of the car parks. near the centre of the city. We spent most of the morning at the arena, and then went for a walk around the city. We found ourselves at this Piazza. It is quite spectacular and some of the buildings have frescoes.

At ground level there is a lively market. We stopped here at one of the bars for lunch, following which we found the house of Juliet and continued a fairly long walk around Verona. One of the highlights was Castelvecchio and the adjacent bridge.
