A time for everything

Fall afternoon on the bike trail

It's been a long day! We got up at 4.15am, so we could leave at 5am to get Laura to the airport for her 7.15 flight. Had it been left to Roger and I, we would probably have had another half hour in bed, but Laura wanted to be there in plenty of time, so we obliged! I had been a little concerned ahead of time, as she didnt have a very long layover in Atlanta - long enough as long as the flight from Cincinnati was on time, but what if it were late?! Anyway, everything went well - she made her connection with time to spare. She met one other Miami University student on the flight from Cincy, and met up with two more in Atlanta. They then had several hours to wait at the airport in Belize before they were picked up - waiting for other students coming in on different flights. But we had a text from her a little over an hour ago, to say she was safely installed with her host family in Belmopan. When we got back from the airport, it was still dark, so we made some coffee to wake ourselves up properly, and I spent a bit of time on the computer. Then once it was light we went out to pick up our pop-up camper, so we could empty it of the stuff we keep in it for the season - bedding and certain food items - and drain the water system thoroughly. I cleaned the floor, and Roger did a few odd jobs. Then I spent a bit of time vacuuming up leaves from our back patio and surrounding area, before coming inside to do some laundry and other tasks. About mid-afternoon we went out for some exercise - biking on the Little Miami trail. However, it was a bit of a struggle today - a combination of being short on sleep, not having been on a bike for about six weeks, plus the fact that, despite being sunny with blue skies, it was really blustery. It's now nearly 10pm, so time for me to get some sleep! Night all!
