The Jolly Postman

As much as I love reading to the kids, there are some books which we try to avoid, usually because they take ages to read. I know, bad parent! One such book is The Jolly Postman. Its a fantastic book, but within it are letters and mini books so it does take a while to get through. Our usual rule for Louis, and Alana when she was little, is three shortish stories but if its The Jolly Postman its just the one. You get the picture.

We found we could just about cope with The Jolly Postman, but were wrong to think that the sequel was similar i.e. long but manageable. The Jolly Christmas Postman takes forever! It contains books, cards, letters, shop adverts, a jigsaw and a game with counters and spinner dice! All along with the story of how the postman delivers them (each one is a letter). Its charming but bedtime stories are epic when it is requested. Which is what has been happening lately! I think L purposefully suggests he go for it when its my turn to read.

Here is a picture of what is in the last letter - a peep show apparently!

We are trying the caravan tomorrow.

And we decided against £55 Stone Roses Tickets. An expensive garage bill and a lot of money for a big venue where you could be a long way away - I am beginning to sound so old and sensible! Maybe we'll catch them if they do a festival :)
